Photographics Rotation Work
For this task, I was asked to composite one image out of three photos specially chosen out of thirty-forty other photographs. Prior to this we went through a presentation about the flow and balance of an image, examples included the works of various abstract artists and one of the first abstract photographers named Alvin Langdon Coburn (The octopus, spiderwebs etc.
In this Photoshop composite I tried making the general flow of the image go seemingly upwards, upwards into the negative free space at the top, as if it were a river travelling upstream instead of its usual downwards flow. Since all the objects presented in the photo are presented in their right ‘directions’ (The two buildings being upright and the road being slightly tilted but upright nonetheless, as opposed to being upside down) it should give the viewer a good sense of where the ‘flow’ of the picture is going. The image being in black and white (or greyscale) definitely made it easier to balance it out, if it were in colour, the image would look a lot more disarrayed.
